CHAIN CLAMP
Secure clamping and holding of irregular workpieces
Chain clamps enable workpieces with irregular contours and geometries to be clamped and held securely.
They are mainly used in machine and plant construction. Their flexible application enables complex
workpieces can be fixated without special clamping devices. Chain clamps are particularly suitable for cylindrical
workpieces, valve housings or pistons.
Structure and operating principle
A chain clamp consists of several main components that together exert a uniform clamping force on the workpiece:

Accessories
The following accessory components can be used to expand and customise the chain clamp:
Steel roller chains
With additional chain lengths, it is possible to react flexibly to different workpiece diameters and shapes.
Advantages:
- Flexible extension of the chain via chain links
- Minimal chain stretching through pre-tensioning
- High resistance to dirt and temperature influences

Steel turnbuckle
The turnbuckle is used to tension the chain clamp assembly. It is placed between two chain links
and integrated into the chain. The chain is tensioned by turning the hex head bolt and the play, caused by
chain elongation is compensated for.
Advantages:
- Optimum chain tension
- Reduced chain elongation in long chains
Note: The use of turnbuckles is recommended for chain lengths over 3 m.
Steel 120° V-blocks
The flexible positioning of the V-blocks on the machine table enables the chain clamp set to be used to optimum effect.
The V-blocks are mounted using DIN 508 T-slot nuts. If required, the V-blocks can be fitted with a
slot key for precise alignment on the machine table.
