norelem positions – 03000

The norelem 03000 product group is divided into fourteen categories:

Spring plungers

With 47 product families, this category is the largest in the 03000 standard parts system and includes spring plungers as well as matching assembly keys, locators and spring sleeves.

Spring plungers are used as locating or thrust pins and are most frequently used in machine and tool construction. In everyday production, they are among the most frequently used standard parts when it comes to quickly fixating, indexing or positioning an element.

In addition to the standard versions

the product range also includes spring plungers with

Ball catches, magnetic catches

A magnetic catch uses two magnetic parts to hold the lock closed. This type of lock functions using a magnetic system, while ball catches use a mechanical system. By these, a spring-loaded ball is guided into a ball seating which holds the lock closed. While magnetic catches are easier to use, ball catches generally have a longer service life.
In addition to magnetic catches and ball catches, the norelem range also includes accessories such as angle brackets, double ball catches and spacers. A spacer can be used to e.g. increase the gap for the ball catch.

Stops

Be it in construction, mechanical engineering or assembly, stops are used in a wide variety of branches as aids for positioning workpieces. Stops can also be used to generate a linear movement or a uniform force transmission. In addition to normal stops, the norelem range also includes 5D workpiece stops, stop screws and a sliding clamp stop for slot profiles.

Indexing plungers

Indexing plungers are used to index moving machine elements. They are used for example in machine construction to secure e.g. pivoting or rotating parts.

norelem offers a comprehensive range with indexing plungers with various pin lengths and pin diameters. The wide range of materials used for the body ensures that you will always find the right product for your company.

When working with high temperatures, an indexing plunger with a stainless steel grip should be used instead of one with a plastic head.

In addition, stainless steel plungers are best suited for outdoor use, as they have high corrosion resistance.

Cam-action indexing plungers, barrel slide bolts

The norelem range of cam-action indexing plungers and barrel slide bolts includes various locking devices.

The body material can be selected and is divided into the following materials:

  • Aluminium
  • Stainless steel
  • Brass
  • Steel
  • Zinc

In addition to simple cam-action indexing plungers, the product families also include catch plates. They can be simply attached to the application and are easy to replace.

    Locating pins

Locating pins from norelem are available in a wide rangeof designs,

which are differentiated by the locating or contact surface and the material.

The pins in the range are either removable or are locating pins with a ball-end. Removable locating pins can be easily removed using an extractor. Locating pins with a ball-end, on the other hand, are specially designed to ease the locating process. The tendency to jam, also known as the drawer effect is caused by inserting the locating pin at an angle  . This is minimised with the ball-end and the following bevel.

    Locating elements and systems

A good way to find the product of your choice in the "Positioning elements and systems" product family is to filter by the surface of the body.

The following bodies are available in the range:

    • Black oxidised
    • Hardened, ground and black oxidised
    • Hardened and black oxidised
    • Nickel-plated

While centring pins are used to centre fixtures on pallets, protective plugs close unused grid holes to protect them from swarf and dust. When machining without coolant, it is best to use aluminium protective plugs.

Other product families in this category can be grouped under the umbrella term bushes. Bushes are tube shaped items that are often used in machine construction. they can help to improve efficiency and minimise noise.

    The umbrella term bushes includes:

Centring clamps, mandrel collets, machinable collets

Centring clamps are used for optimum clamping and centring of workpieces on mounting plates and are therefore classed as mechanical clamping elements.

Centric clamping is used to align the workpiece in centrally with a high degree of repeat accuracy and without distortion. norelem offers centring clamps with balls or hexagonal segments.

The "mandrel collet" product family also belongs to clamping elements and is used in machining technology. Mandrel collets from norelem are suitable for the rapid clamping of workpieces. The mandrel collets can be actuated either manually using a clamp nut and clamping screw or pneumatically using a clamping cylinder.

The collets from norelem are ideal for clamping on external contours. The range offers collets for external clamping and also for internal clamping. The mechanism of both collets enable the workpiece to be clamped securely.

    Ball lock pins

The ball lock pins consist of three main components: the grip including push button, a pin and balls.

Ball lock pins is also known as a self-locking pins, because the push button has a spring mechanism. This unlocks the pin by retracting the balls inwards. When the knob is released, the pin locks automaticall as the balls move outwards.

norelem offers ball lock pins with different grip shapes and steel, stainless steel and plastic versions.

The high load-bearing capacity for the pins permit them to be used in many fields. The stainless steel versions in particular ensure increased load capacity together with protection against wear and corrosion.

Another way to connect components and workpieces quickly and easily is to use a locking pin. Above all, the locking pin with axial lock works reliably and with high precision. The axial lock of the locking pin prevents it from moving out of position. The locking pin with axial lock is often used in machines where there is a lot of vibration. Securing is particularly important here, as vibrations can otherwise lead to loose connecting elements.

Accessories for indexing plungers, cam-action indexing plungers and ball lock pins

This product family includes various types of bushes (tapered and cylindrical) as well as the following accessories:

    • Key rings
Suitable for retaining cables with eyelet, ball lock pins, locking pins and indexing plungers

    • Spacer rings
Suitable for adapting thread lengths of indexing plungers to the required screw-in length (wall thickness) of the application

    • Mounting brackets
Provide an assembly aid for cam-action indexing plungers and extend their application range

    • Safety cables
Characterised by high elongation at fracture and good rebound resilience

    Parallels and systems

Parallels support clamping and positioning of various workpieces. Parallels are used for measuring, scribing, grinding or milling. In conjunction with clamping tools, a parallel set contributes to the precise angular machining of workpieces.

While DIN 6346 parallels are used together with a measuring device to improve the accuracy of tools or machines, positioning brackets are used to determine the position of an object.

A positioning bracket can determine the angular position of one part in relation to another, which can be very useful when assembling machines or designing mechanical systems.

    Slot keys for positioning

T-slot keys are used for the rapid and accurate positioning of fixture elements. They are available in two versions, enabling the T-slot keys to be used for two different slot widths.

In addition to T-slot keys, this category includes these other products:

    • Flat slot keys
    • Elastic slot keys
    • DIN 6323 foose slot keys
    • Slot keys with cylindrical fixation
    • Carrier keys

      Dowel pins, parallel keys, extractors

Dowel pins with internal thread are mainly used in blind holes. The ground surface of the dowel pins prevents air compression.

Parallel keys, on the other hand, are used to transmit force from shafts to hubs and are often used for one-sided torques. The dimensions and shape of parallel keys are defined by DIN 6885. Parallel keys transmit their forces laterally and are therefore considered to be positive connections.

norelem also offers roll dowels in this category,

which can be easily inserted into the hole using a hammer or an automatic insertion system.

      Lateral spring plungers

Lateral spring plungers are a must in the norelem standard parts system. Their universal applicability means they can be found by e.g. drilling, welding or engraving. In contrast to conventional spring plungers, the force exerted by lateral spring plungers acts sideways using a thrust pin. They are therefore used for positioning and clamping as well as for holding and fixating workpieces and components.

norelem offers the following types of lateral spring plungers:
