New at norelem: Electric cylinders with IO-Link servo technology

norelem is expanding its portfolio and now offers a compact, energy-efficient alternative to pneumatic cylinders: electric cylinders, or more precisely, IO-Link servo actuators. They are ideal for all applications in mechanical engineering or medical technology where precise linear movements are required.

norelem's electric cylinders combine a brushless servo motor, servo controller and ball screw in a single housing. The IO-Link interface allows setpoints to be transmitted in real time and speeds, accelerations and positions to be variably adjusted, even for complex servo positioning tasks. Alternatively, simple digital control is sufficient, as with a pneumatic cylinder.

Powerful and modern drive solution

The devices do not require any additional space in the control cabinet. Speed and force limits can be set directly via a rotary knob on the housing. The dimensions of the electric cylinders are based on ISO 15552 and are compatible with existing connection and accessory components.

The advantages of norelem electric cylinders

Electric cylinders, and IO-Link servo actuators in particular, offer greater precision, energy efficiency, flexibility and diagnostic options than pneumatic cylinders.

Servo actuators enable highly accurate positioning and can move continuously to any stroke position and motion profile. They can be directly parameterised, monitored and diagnosed via IO-Link. Thanks to their compact design, they are easy to install and only require power and an IO-Link cable. Fewer wear parts also means less maintenance. They operate in an energy-saving and controlled manner, are self-locking when stationary and therefore significantly more efficient in operation.
